About Me

Background

With a British, Dutch, and German background, and having lived in both the Netherlands and the UK, I bring an international perspective to my work. My multicultural upbringing has given me a deep understanding of the emotional and relational challenges expats and international families often face, as well as a sensitivity to the nuances of different cultures and values.

Research & Expertise

My PhD research explored the lived emotional and relational experience of what it means to grow up as a Third Culture Kid (TCK) attending an International School. Approaching this subject from a psychoanalytic perspective, I gained in-depth insight into challenges and strengths that emerge from an international upbringing.

This research, combined with my personal and professional experience, gives me an up-to-date and nuanced understanding of the TCK experience and expat life. It also enables me to tailor my therapeutic approach to the specific emotional and relational needs of clients navigating cross-cultural transitions, identity issues, complexities of belonging and the often less visible forms of loss that can accompany international life.
