FAQs

1

Referral letter from GP / family doctor?

Some insurance companies may require a referral letter from your GP for reimbursement purposes. Please check with your insurance company beforehand.

2

Medication

As a psychologist/psychotherapist I do not prescribe medication. If needed, I can collaborate with your GP or psychiatrist.

3

Insurance company coverage

I work as an out-of-network provider and do not hold contracts with health insurance companies. This also means I am not required to share information about your treatment with insurers. Session fees are therefore paid directly by you.

Depending on your insurance policy, you may be eligible for partial or full reimbursement of therapy costs. I recommend contacting your insurer before starting therapy to clarify what cover may be available to you. My invoices generally include the information needed to support reimbursement claims, and I am happy to provide additional documentation if requested by your insurer.

Please note that I practise independently and outside of the Dutch GGZ reimbursement system, and therefore do not provide treatment within Basis GGZ or Specialistische GGZ frameworks.

4

Confidentiality

I adhere to the ethical code of the Dutch Institute of Psychologists (NIP), meaning that everything discussed in therapy is treated with strict confidentiality.

Only in the very rare situation involving serious concerns about your safety or the safety of others, I may need to contact appropriate professionals or services to ensure support and protection.

5

Option for online & Hybrid Therapy

Sessions can be held online as well as in person, depending on your needs and preferences.

6

Cancellation Policy

Sometimes unexpected things come up, and I ask that you let me know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend your appointment. I will always do my best to find an alternative time with you. Please note, however, that sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, will still be charged.

7

Waiting time

While I aim to keep waiting times short, I have a limited number of appointments available for new clients. Please feel free to get in touch regarding current availability and waiting times.

8

Treatment satisfaction

I am committed to providing thoughtful, high-quality care within a safe and respectful therapeutic environment. If you have any concerns or if at any point something feels unsatisfactory, I encourage you to discuss this with me openly so that we can work together towards a constructive resolution.

In line with Dutch legislation (Wkkgz – Wet kwaliteit, klachten en geschillen zorg), the first step in the complaints procedure is to address any concerns directly with your therapist. If we are unable to resolve the matter together, you have the right to pursue a formal complaints procedure through the NFG. More information can be found via the NFG complaints procedure.

9

Professional Approach and Expectations

I bring extensive training and experience to my work and will use my professional skills and clinical judgment to support you in working towards your goals. At the same time, it is important to recognise that no therapeutic process can be guaranteed. If at any point I feel that therapy is not progressing as effectively as it might, I will discuss this with you so that we can consider the most appropriate next steps together.
